The Web 1,000 Days from Today

The birth of the World Wide Web more than a decade ago has ushered in a period in human history unlike no other that has ever been experienced by any generation.  It has allowed not only for the emancipation of boundless information for anyone in need, but also introduced a new way of instantly getting in touch with anyone, irrespective of distance and geography.  Thus, with this innovation, this generation has greatly benefited from this technology that it seemed to have succeeded in creating a smaller world necessitating changes to be implemented in our industries, politics, personal lives, and also in our professions.

Hence, it is only natural for an inquisitive mind to ponder on what extent does the Web still holds to influence our lives in the next 1,000 days of its existence, particularly in our chosen fields of expertiseour profession.  What is obviously coming within this timeframe is the reality that as more global corporations and government agencies become Web-compliant, their records and transactions become easily available as well, making the job of those needing them as their resources exponentially easier to accomplish.  In this respect, more software that are especially tailored to a specific target, such as the medical field, will be offered.

These programs will not only simplify the complex technicalities of a particular profession, but will also be automatically linked to an external web server, where previous data are stored, much like an external hard disk, only it lies on the Web and its memory is virtually limitless.  Also coming in the near future is an identification system that is more reliable and accepted globally than the previous system of I.D.cards.  This enables the person to instantly access, thru the Web, various terminals strategically placed in airports, shopping centers, universities, government institutions, and other establishments that previously required the old I.D.s.  Likewise, this system is linked to the virtual hard disk on the Web, making information gathering for certain subjects a lot easier to accomplish.
